Housing Assistant

Housing & Communities Team ¦ EVH Grade 5 (PA13-PA16)

At Cunninghame Housing Association, we are committed to providing excellent services, supporting thriving communities and putting our customers at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for a motivated, organised and customer-focused Housing Assistant to join our Housing & Communities Team and play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality housing services.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a values-led organisation where no two days are the same. Whether helping applicants access housing, supporting tenants with their enquiries or assisting colleagues to deliver efficient and effective services, you will make a genuine difference to the lives of the people and communities we serve.

Why This Role Matters

Housing Assistants are often the first point of contact for our tenants, customers and housing applicants. As a key member of the Housing & Communities Team, you will help ensure that customers receive a professional, responsive and customer-focused service from their first interaction with us.

Through your work, you will support the delivery of a wide range of housing management services including allocations, tenancy administration, rent accounts, estate management and community engagement activities. Your attention to detail, organisational skills and commitment to excellent customer service will directly contribute to positive outcomes for our customers and communities.

The Role

Reporting to the Area Team Manager, you will provide administrative and operational support across a range of housing management functions. Working closely with Housing Officers and colleagues across the organisation, you will help ensure services are delivered efficiently, accurately and in line with policy and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for housing enquiries, providing advice, information and support to customers.
  • Support the administration of housing applications, allocations, lettings and tenancy sign-ups.
  • Maintain accurate tenancy, applicant and housing management records.
  • Assist with tenancy management activities including estate management, tenancy inspections and antisocial behaviour case administration.
  • Support rent account management, payment arrangements and former tenant debt recovery.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports and tenancy documentation.
  • Liaise with colleagues, external agencies and partner organisations to support service delivery.
  • Assist with community engagement activities and customer involvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to performance reporting, compliance requirements and continuous service improvement activities.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering excellent customer service and enjoys working in a busy and varied environment. You will be organised, approachable and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

You will bring:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong administrative and organisational abilities.
  • Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with customers, colleagues and external partners.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach to work.
  • Experience of working with the public in a customer-facing role.
  • Experience of working within a busy office or administrative environment.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality services and positive customer outcomes.

Experience within housing, customer service or a regulated environment would be advantageous, but just as important are your attitude, values and willingness to learn and develop.

Benefits

We want our people to feel valued, supported and able to build a rewarding career with us. Alongside a competitive salary, we offer a strong benefits package designed to support wellbeing, work-life balance and future financial security.

Benefit from access to our Cash Health Plan, helping with everyday healthcare costs and supporting your wellbeing.
